These take place each Thursday evening, from 7 to 9 pm, at St Dennis Working Men’s Club, PL26 8AD. Our performances require a good deal of preparation to get up to the standards we pride ourselves upon, and we expect members to keep that evening for the Choir if at all possible. The spirit of the Choir depends upon the loyalty between members, and this is also reinforced by the get-togethers in the Club after each practice finishes. Please do join us for the rehearsal and for the ‘afterglow’.
Sheet music of all the pieces is provided, and members mark them according to the Musical Director’s directions for the fine tuning of the performance.
See our ‘Joining’ page for information about joining the Choir.
OPEN REHEARSALS 2025
Male Voice Choirs are a long tradition in Cornwall, but we are always looking for new members. To recruit in new areas we are starting the new year with a series of Open Rehearsals away from our usual home in St Dennis Working Men's Club.
On Thursdays 23rd and 30th January we will be singing at Indian Queens Band Room, at 7pm as usual.
On Thursdays 20th and 27th February we will be at Lanivet Methodist Church, and again all are welcome.
Any man who has ever enjoyed a sing, alone or with friends, is very welcome to come along to any of these sessions. If you like singing on your own you will find your pleasure multiplied at singing in harmony. And if you have sung with friends, why not bring one or two of them along?
The Committee meets once a month to deal with events and developments, and to build our programme of concerts. They are usually held at Leek Seed Chapel, St Blazey Gate, or at Nanpean Chapel. The agenda is published in advance of each meeting and the minutes afterwards.
The Ladies’ Committee also has regular meetings, where they plan the fund-raising and support activities by which they make a vital and substantial contribution to the Choir’s funds and well-being. Their regular Christmas Draw is made in December and their stand at Sticker Rally raised a substantial amount even in this post-Covid year.
At intervals the Ladies’ Committee have organised teas and other social events for the Choir members and their families, most recently on the resumption of practices after the lockdown for Covid-19.
