- Committee Meeting MinuImerys Mid Cornwall Male Choir Minutes of Committee Meeting Wednesday 3rd July 2024. Attending; Roger Varney/Colin Grigg / Dennis & Shirley Mitchell / Barbara Haigh / Barry Hawken/ Richard Holman / Richard Pearce / Bill Osborne Apologies; Marlene Bowden / Steve Bradbury / John Evans / Tim Field Minutes of the Committee Meeting held on 29th May were approved and signed with no matters arising, other than covered by this Agenda. Discussion focused on our forthcoming engagements, as follows; • Social Get –Together, Sunday 7th July at Nanpean Chapel; unfortunately, not all members of the choir will be attending, so Barry unable to decide on the music programme until Thursday` s rehearsal; however, responses from the Friends of the Choir has been encouraging with total numbers for the afternoon expected to be over 60; three of our Sponsors have wished us well but unable to attend (Karrek/ Hawkins/ Graham Barker) Start time is 3pm; Uniform ( casual) no jackets, black short sleeve shirts/tartan ties ( for those who do not have the short sleeve shirts, long sleeves acceptable); following Thursday`s rehearsal, please assist to load keyboard etc. into Dennis`s car. • Fowey Classic Car Show, Thursday 22nd August ; suggested to the organizers by our President, Mark Hewson; held in the grounds of Fowey Academy ( senior school) opening to the public free of charge at 2.30pm; our slot is at 3.30pm for approx. 45min.programme; a gazebo and chairs will be provided; refreshments for purchase will be available on site; free car parking on site, subject to car registrations being notified in advance( by Colin); because this is an afternoon event and a working day for some of us, our commitment at this stage is provisional, subject to knowing how many members will be available…. Please therefore, within the next 10 days, return the slip below, or email / phone Colin to confirm your availability; these returns will determine whether or not we will attend the event. • Joint Concert with Stythians MVC , Friday 27th September at 7.00pm; venue is now confirmed at Holy Trinity Church, St.Austell; hoped for special guests is the Truro High School for Girls Choir; local charity yet to be chosen. Other matters discussed; • Possible “off-site” rehearsals planned in the St.Columb/Fraddon area during September/October in an effort to recruit new members. • Further ahead (2025) possible concert with the Lemonaires & St.Dennis Band. • Richard P. is meeting soon with Imerys Communications Officer to promote the choir within the organization. • We need to increase the number of our Friends of the Choir ( now down to 20 ) • Volunteer needed to attend Federation Meeting on 19th July ( please refer Bill Osborne) • DATE OF NEXT MEETING; Tuesday 13th August, 7pm, at Nanpean Chapel. NOTE ; rehearsal on Thursday 11th July will be at St.Dennis Methodist Chapel Name…………………………………………………………………….. I WILL BE AVAILABLE for the FOWEY CLASSIC CAR SHOW on Thursday 22nd August.
